Editorial Policy

Sports Wire Report is a headline wire: we point readers to the best reporting on breaking sports news, as fast as possible, and send them to the publisher that did the work.

Sources

Headlines come from public news feeds published by established sports outlets, league-wide news sites and specialist rumor sites. We add a source only if it publishes original reporting regularly and corrects its mistakes. We do not include anonymous blogs or accounts that recycle other outlets' scoops without credit. The full list of sites we read is at the bottom of every page.

How headlines are selected and highlighted

  • Headlines are sorted newest first and grouped by sport. Each headline shows the outlet that published it and links to the original article.
  • A headline is shown in red when it is recent and reads like hard news, such as a trade, signing, release, firing, suspension or major injury.
  • The siren marks the newest major story of the last few hours.
  • Pages update every few minutes; open pages refresh their headlines automatically about every 3 minutes.

Selection and highlighting are automated and based on recency and wording, not on payment or partnerships. No one can pay to place or highlight a headline.

Insiders

The reporters we list for each sport are national journalists with a long record of breaking news first and getting it right. We link to their public profiles; we are not affiliated with them or their employers, and listing a reporter is not an endorsement of every post.

Guides

Our guides are written to explain how sports news works: trade deadlines, free agency, transfer windows, the transfer portal and the language insiders use. They describe rules in general terms because salary caps, dates and league rules change; for exact current figures, check the league's official announcements. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.

Photos and headlines

Headlines and photos belong to the publishers that produced them and are shown only to link to their original articles.

Corrections and removal requests

If a headline is wrong, misleading, or the original publisher has corrected or removed the story, email hello@sportswirereport.com with the link. Publishers can ask us to stop linking to their site at any time. Corrections to our own guides are made promptly and noted with an updated date.
